General Motors introduced a new era of common Global electrical design called Electrical Architecture “A”. It is found on numerous vehicles including the new GM pickups.
General Motors will begin using a worldwide format for this service information. One common world wide schematic format will be used. Functional Diagnostic changes to flow charts and the wide use of GMLAN will provide challenges for the technicians.
Huge changes to diagnostics and repair of vehicles often occur when the manufactures make major changes in a body design. Often changes to the body design accompany changes to the electrical system, introduction of new engines, and accessories are upgraded, or added. While this trend is often true, sometimes major changes occur within a given generation of a model.
This course will cover changes to the GM pickups that occurred during the 99 – 07 model.
The Malibu was a contender for Car of the Year. The Malibu, when compared to a Toyota Camry, bettered it in most meaningful tests. The only way the Malibu could rate this well is by GM’s commitment to making improvements. Some of these improvements began in 2004 when Chevrolet made major changes to the Malibu.
This course will cover operations and diagnosis of most of the systems found on a newer Malibu changes to the V-6 engine, Electric Power Steering, Electrical Power Management and GM LAN are among the list of things to be taught in this course. While the Malibu is a typical GM Car, some of what you learn for the Malibu will be a direct carry over to other GM cars while other changes are more model specific.
